This Post is dedicated to all "True Writers". A true writer is someone who knows what it means to create something from the heart and soul....not bound by outside critics or your own insecurities, no worry of whether its good or the grammar is perfect but rather trying to convey the message you want the way you want. I believe myself to be one of those "true" writers and will soon be posting my own works here, not to impress or rant but to share to you my words, my thoughts as only i can. If you are passionate as i am about writing then i encourage you to do the same. Share with us something that only you can, your words, your thoughts, everything that makes up who you are. It may be romantic, depressing, violent, or comical but at least maintain one constant.....let it be you cause only then will the words really [glow=red,2,300]shine[/glow].

in order to save space it would be nice that if your story is over a few paragraphs long than u create a link to it instead of posting the whole thing....this way it stays less crowded for everyone Thanks-Maverick-

I think you are a wonderful writer, even if sometimes you use poor grammar. You should post "My Hanging" I liked that one. I don't know if I am any good at writing, I know I can write poetry, but stories seem to be harder for me to write.

I like writing and in my freshman english class she let us go all crazy and stuff and write short stories. One idea that i thought was really nifty was just to pick out a picture or two from a magazine and write a story based on what you see in the image. i wrote a story based on two pictures, one of diamonds, and another of a sunken and mysterious looking ship. it was posted on the wall in the classroom the day after i turned it in.

This is my probably my most painful bits of writing ever. Its titled my hanging and is very good from a amateur stand point i think. Its long but well worth the read in my opinion. I'll not grace this paper with so much a date in the hopes that I may one day forget the day, the moment that I lost the last portion of my humanity and with it my soul. The day I have awaited has come and gone but in some ways it still lingers behind my eyelids. Every time I close them I see the boy, his face bloated and red from the rope around his neck. His eyes didn't look of most men as they were hung. They were wide like a child wondering only of where his mother was. I had heard about two days ago that a group had been storing munitions for a revolt had been arrested. They were to be hung in front of the prisoners as examples. I heard the next day that one of the ones arrested was a child. The usual hangman had refused to hang the child so people were going around trying to find at least three volunteers. Naturally I said yes not wanting to waste a chance like this to kill a filthy traitor. I boasted for the rest of the day to fellow comrades about how I am one of the three who get to kill the traitors. Some laughed, some looked at me as though I were crazy, and others didn't seem to care much either way. I was excited the morning of "my hanging" as I now called it. I had pressed my suit, combed my hair even though I was going to wear a hat and shined my shoes till I was sick of the smell of shoeshine. Another officer led me to where we would hang them. I volunteered to hang the child since the others refused. I watched the line of the damned walk up th steps but diverted my eyes to the child's feet not out of shame but simply because I wanted to witness his fear at its utmost peak, to laugh and spit in his face. I took the hand of the boy and escorted him to his noose. I stood him on the chair and as I put the noose around his neck I decided to treat myself to his frightened face. I have seen many men in fear before there death and expected nothing less but that. As my gaze landed on his face, mine went pale. The boy who I must have envisioned killing a hundred times over had the face of an angel or one of those cherubs you see on statues and in pictures. His cheeks were bright red and trembled at my touch. His eyes were large and harbored no hate toward me. His eyes were filled with tears but the only defiance I saw was that he would not let them fall. I felt the warmth of his breath on my hand. Never had I felt something so real an frightening. My ming lost control of my body because I don't remember my foot kicking the chair out from underneath him. Watching him writhe there at the end of the rope. I wanted to save him but I was frozen with fear. The child's eyes never left mine even when I kicked the chair and still his eyes harbored no hate toward me. I saw only sadness and whether it was for himself or for me I still don't know. I then as the Jews had to walk past I heard words that brought the full weight of my actions down upon me. "Where is god? How could he let this happen...to a child?" The Jews after being treated with inhuman cruelty and now bearing witness to the death of their enemy they weep for him. Such compassion for fellow man touched me at depths I cannot express. I looked at the boy thinking I had seen tears but all I saw now were his foggy, lifeless gaze toward me. The tears were my own. THE END

quite deep actually, morbid but I suppose that's to be expected.I can write but I don't embrace my negative feelings, the only thing I can write is humor... let's just say my english teacher loved me

I encourage Maverick's writing, but not his choice in genre.
If you like reading humorous stories, you should have a look at some of Terry Pratchett's work, he's into satire, and that brings me joy.

I've read pretty much all of Terry Pratchett's work. I also enjoy Christopher Stasheff(though good luck finding his books), and Peter David. You would probably like Peter David's books, he wrote the series 'Sir Apropos of Nothing'.

If you enjoyed Pterry, check out Neil Gaiman. He's more into the fantasy side, and not as funny, but he's still good at what he does.

I might look into it, was he the one who helped write "good omens"?

Yes, Neil and Terry wrote Good Omens together. Neil can be a bit more dark than Terry though. In his book Coraline he really brings the horror of childhood to life. My favorite though is Stardust, and I won't give anything away, except that it gives new life to falling stars.

I think any more discussion about published authors should go into the welcome post of this folder.
And OP where's that work you were going to post? Hmmm?
Speaking of Opie, did you know that the child star of Andy Griffith went on the play Richy Cunningham on Happy Days? (it's ok if I'm off-topic, I'm the admin!)
